Can environmental factors affect gene expression in autism?


Recent studies pointed out that certain environmental factors may influence the development of Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

This external influence to genes,  in particular the environmental factors, called Epigenetics.


Consequences of autism and the need to prevent the influence of environmental factors


This may mean lower capacity for social interaction and understanding, repetitive behaviors, difficulties of communication and language development.

As a result, é priority to prevention of the influence of environmental factors in the development of the child, to reduce the risk of Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
